COMMUNITY HEALTH ALLIANCE OFFERS LOCAL FOOD GRANTS
BLUE HILL - The Community Health Alliance announces a 2010 grant program for projects or programs intended to increase food sustainability and improve the health and well-being of Blue Hill Peninsula residents. In addition to meeting these goals, successful applications will be those that place an emphasis on creating a more just and sustainable local food system through food production, education or related projects. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded based on the merits of the proposal and the likelihood of completion. Priority will be given to first time recipients.
Grants are available for nonprofit organizations, schools, community groups, or individuals. Projects or programs must be carried out in the towns of Blue Hill, Sedgwick, Penobscot, Castine, Orland, Surry, Deer Isle, Stonington, Brooksville, or Brooklin. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2010. Decisions and grant awards will be made by April 30, 2010. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Grants awarded up to $5,000. In no more than 2 pages (double sided, no less than 12 pt font), please answer the following questions:
1. Describe your project or program. Include a timeline for how you will use this grant.
2. Who will this grant benefit? How?
3. Please include a budget for your project or program. This may be included on a separate page. If the grant will only partially fund your project, please indicate how the remaining funds will be raised to complete it.
4. Do you own the land, buildings, etc. where this project or program will be carried out? If not, what is your relationship to the owner?
5. Describe any relevant work experience by those involved in your project or program that will contribute to its success.
6. Describe in which way, if any, your project will educate the community or affected people on local food issues.
